Sambach is an interdisciplinary company founded by blind pianist and composer Pol Oñate in collaboration with the Bachcelona festival. The project aims to bring Johann Sebastian Bach’s music closer to a wider audience by fusing it with Brazilian folklore, revealing a lesser-known side of Brazil in Europe and breaking cultural barriers. Sambach places a strong emphasis on accessibility, designing inclusive cultural experiences for people with physical, sensory, or mild intellectual disabilities. The company’s work revolves around multisensory shows like “Ritmo Sakral” and “Al otro lado del mar,” as well as educational workshops on leadership, musical fusion, and accessible production. Sambach stands out for its creative interdisciplinarity, social commitment, and the ambition to transform the musical experience into a collective, empowering, and transformative act.
Ritmo Sakral is Sambach’s flagship show, directed by Pol Oñate. It is an interdisciplinary, multisensory performance where Bach’s music, Brazilian folklore, electronics, live visuals, scents, and edible objects merge. Performed by a septet (six musicians and an actor), the show invites the audience to a holistic experience that stimulates all five senses, guided by a narrative exploring themes like belonging, spirituality, and identity. With live scent DJing, multilingual subtitles, and collaborations with gastronomy experts, “Ritmo Sakral” is an immersive ritual celebrating diversity and inner transformation.
