The Musical Ensemble, Al’Fado, is a Portuguese – Israeli collaboration based in the rich music scene of Lisbon. It focuses on cultures originating from the Iberian Peninsula through traditions of medieval Hebrew communities and the expression in a unique language called Ladino that combines Castilian Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Turkish, Greek, Slavic languages and Moroccan Arabic.
Al’Fado’s music is inspired by different local musical genres such as Fado and Flamenco as well as African and Brazilian influences that are also incorporated in its work. Through the mixing of musical genres, languages and cultures we aim to bring people of distinct cultures together. In a world where the gaps between us are constantly growing we feel it is our duty and mission to create bridges through our artistic work and creation. This project is one of few years only, but has been fortunate enough to be presented locally in Portugal as well as in a respectable variety of events and festivals worldwide, some of them are:

In 2020, the ensemble released its debut album – “Nasimiento” (birth). It was officially Launched non-digitally only in October 2022 in Lisbon Portugal. The Album was also supported by the Israel-Portugal chamber of commerce and is endorsed by the Antena 1 – National authority of Radio in Portugal.
Nowadays the ensemble is preparing its upcoming program which is due to be released during 2025.
