Techxturas Sonoras is a live performance that combines experimental electronic music with 19th-century Mexican poetry. It is the only project in Mexico that pays tribute to this literary tradition through a contemporary stage format. The entire sonic structure presented throughout the 50-minute performance is built in dialogue with literary texts, whose readings—pre-recorded by actors or narrators—are integrated as sonic material. Music, spoken word, and visuals unfold together in real time, without hierarchy between text and sound. The result is a solo performance where sonic and poetic elements intertwine to reinterpret authors such as Amado Nervo, Esther Tapia, Manuel José Othón, and other voices from Mexico’s literary heritage through a contemporary artistic lens.
Created in 2015 by Jairo Guerrero—a sound artist, music producer, and cultural manager with more than three decades of experience—Techxturas Sonoras has evolved into a stage and recording project with international presence. Guerrero is an active member of the Latin Recording Academy (Latin Grammy) and the founder of five independent record labels. With Techxturas Sonoras, he has participated in festivals, museums, sound art exhibitions, and cultural venues in Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Ecuador. The project brings together his professional background with a clear purpose: to reactivate the connection with literary language through a sonic platform capable of reaching diverse audiences, even those without prior exposure to poetry or electronic music.
In addition to the live performances, Techxturas Sonoras has given rise to several albums that reinterpret classical Mexican poetry through electronic textures, ambient soundscapes, and contemporary structures. The project has been featured in specialized cultural and music media in Mexico, including Soundcheck, Chilango, El Heraldo, Radio Fórmula, and the Fondo de Cultura Económica, where it has been described as “a new republic of readers awakened through listening” and “a different level of artistic perception.”
