Sigá y Silente, meaning “in a gentle and silent way,” is the collaborative project of Andalucian percussionist Lucas Zegrí and Greek pianist Yiorgos Bereris. When they first met in 2021, they shared a common need to communicate despite linguistic barriers, finding music as their universal language.
Their orchestration combines a variety of percussion instruments from Latin American, Balkan, and Middle Eastern cultures, such as batá, pandeiro, cajon, and bendir, complemented by a pianistic style that merges jazz with East-Mediterranean traditions.
Since they first started, they have performed a series of concerts in the Netherlands, Spain, and Greece. In Autumn 2024, they are set to release their debut album, titled “Siga y Silente,” featuring original compositions influenced by flamenco, Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, and Greek traditional music. One notable collaboration on the album includes the talented flamenco singer from Andalucia, Blanca La Almendrita.
